French Press
This French Press is one of the more easy methods and is not time consuming. This method takes approximately 5mins to brew coffee.
The French Press brewing method has been around since the 1850′s but was first patented by Italian designer Attilio Calimani in 1929. A french press maximizes the flavor output of the coffee. Grind 1 tbsp. of coffee beans per cup of coffee (2oz for a 4 cup Press), however the amount of coffee depends on the roast, like medium or dark, and how strong you like your coffee. Grind the beans, usually a medium 11 or 12 ground. Some people prefer a coarser ground to prevent the grounds from dissolving through the filter. However this uses more coffee and changes the taste. Add your grounds to the French press and pour in boiled water, make sure it is not boiling. Put the top on the press with the handle completely extended so that the screen portion is at the top resting on the grounds. Allow the coffee to steep for approximately 2 minutes. Push down the handle so the screen pushes the grounds to the bottom of the French press. Make sure you keep the handle in this position for serving to keep as much of the grounds as possible from being poured into the coffee cup. |
