The Chemex
Using a Chemex takes time to set up and to brew the coffee. It is not an "every day" method to brew coffee yet and is recommended to be used on special occasions. Not only is it an excellent method, it also makes a great conversation piece.
The Chemex brewing method was invented in 1931 by Peter Schlumbohm but has only recently grown in popularity among coffee enthusiasts. This method is still not widely known amongst the average coffee drinker, but the biggest benefit to this brewing is how clean a cup of coffee it produces with no sediment to your cup.
The trick to this is to pour the first boiled water over the grounds and allow it to drain through completely. Thereafter slow continuous pouring of hot water from a form of teapot, covering the grounds until the chemex is full. Remove the filter and grounds and pour. |
